A Little Innovation Goes a Long Way
Marty Crochet is a self-employed carpenter with decades of experience installing high-end cabinetry in some of Louisiana’s finest custom homes. He is also the inventor of the ingenious Simple Scribe.
Over the years of installing paneling, cabinets, counter tops, as well as many other projects that involve scribing to an abnormal wall, Marty was experiencing what people in the business world like to describe as a pain point. Conventional scribing techniques of trying to set a compass scribe and keeping it set, or cutting blocks of wood to try to get the right thickness both left a lot to be desired. Seeking a better way, Marty made what became the first Simple Scribe out of wood years ago and used it constantly on many projects.
One day, the Simple Scribe prototype was sitting on a cabinet Marty had just built when a friend of the homeowner came to visit. As soon as he saw the wooden Simple Scribe, he asked where it came from and how he could get one. Turns out the friend was a ship fitter (fitting iron). The friend said, “I would use it every day on my job if I had one. Come on, make me one or tell me how you made it”. After hearing from someone else how helpful this tool really is, not just in carpentry work but also in other trades, Marty decided to bring the Simple Scribe to market.
Now, tradespeople and homeowners worldwide are using the Simple Scribe to make their projects quicker and easier to complete, all with fantastically accurate results. We invite you to experience the Simple Scribe for yourself, you won’t be disappointed!
